Hudler, Zetterberg lead Red Wings to fifth straight win

Jan 18, 2007 - 3:20 AM DETROIT (Ticker) -- Jiri Hudler is showing a knack for being in the right place at the right time for the Detroit Red Wings.

Hudler snapped a second-period tie and Zetterberg had two goals and an assist for the Red Wings, who won their fifth straight game with a 5-3 victory over the Nashville Predators.

After netting the eventual game-winning tally in Monday's triumph over the Montreal Canadiens, Hudler again put the Red Wings on top for good as they extended their home winning streak to eight straight contests with their 30th win of the season.

Captain Nicklas Lidstrom tied the score, 3-3, on the power play with 7:38 remaining in the second session before Hudler netted his eighth of the campaign with a wrister from the slot that beat goaltender Chris Mason to the glove side.

Tomas Holmstrom scored his ninth goal in his last 10 games with 1:00 left in the middle period, combining with linemates Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk to record nine points.

Zetterberg completed his second two-goal game of the season just 1:32 into the second period when he stroked a spinning backhand shot past netminder Tomas Vokoun's left pad, tying the game, 2-2. The tally prompted the Predators to replace Vokoun with Mason.

Datsyuk finished with four assists and netminder Dominik Hasek made just 14 saves for the Red Wings, who improved to 16-2-3 at home.

Jordin Tootoo and defensemen Dan Hamhuis and Greg Zanon scored and Mason stopped 16 shots in 37 minutes for Nashville, which had its six-game winning streak stopped.
