Maple Leafs hope to get Tucker back vs. Panthers

SUNRISE, Florida (Ticker) -- The Toronto Maple Leafs hope the return of Darcy Tucker sparks a turnaround.

Toronto's leading goal-scorer, Tucker may return to the lineup on Thursday when the Maple Leafs visit the Florida Panthers.

Sidelined the last six games with a foot injury, Tucker has been greatly missed. He scored 19 goals and 31 points in 39 contests before his injury and will have to play through some pain if he decides to lace up his skates on Thursday.

It would be the second staight game Toronto has received a lift from players returning from the injured list. Injured forwards Nik Antropov and Alexei Ponikarovsky returned to the ice Tuesday and each had a goal and an assist in a 4-2 win over Tampa Bay.

Antropov missed 17 games due to an ankle injury while Ponikarovsky had been sidelined for 11 games with a shoulder injury.

It was just the second win in the last five games for the Maple Leafs, who played the opener of a three-game road swing. They will take on a Panthers club that is also struggling, losing four of its last six contests.

Florida suffered a 3-2 overtime loss to Carolina on Tuesday to fall to 0-10 in overtime contests this campaign. Olli Jokinen and Nathan Horton scored for the Panthers, who had their four-game home winning streak snapped.

Florida has won two of the three matchups between the teams this season.
