Wild look to continue road success against Blackhawks

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Minnesota Wild go for a franchise-record fourth straight road win when they visit the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday.

The Wild started the season 4-15-1 on the road but have won three straight away from home. The third consecutive road win came against the Blackhawks on Sunday. Pavol Demitra scored the lone goal in the shootout as Manny Fernandez made 38 saves in a 4-3 triumph.

Fernandez has been solid lately in winning three of his last four games while allowing nine goals. However, the netminder allowed two goals on 18 shots in a 2-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday.

The Blackhawks have been struggling lately in going 0-5-2 in their last seven games. Chicago's latest defeat was a 5-4 overtime loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday. Nikolai Khabibulin had a tough outing, allowing five goals on only 18 shots.

Bryan Smolinski, who has 11 goals this season, snapped an 11-game goalless drought with a pair of tallies.

Chicago, which went scoreless in three power-play opportunities, has the worst-ranked power play unit in the league, as it is only converting at an 11.0 percent rate.
