Crosby, Penguins start playoff push against Stars
Jan 26, 2007 - 3:35 PM Pittsburgh (21-17-8) at Dallas (29-18-1) 8:30 pm ESTDALLAS (Ticker) -- Sidney Crosby was a no-show in his All-Star debut. The Pittsburgh Penguins hope a return to Dallas will yield better results.
Crosby and the Penguins look to continue their postseason push Friday when they visit the Dallas Stars.
The league leader in assists (48) and points (72), Crosby was the main attraction heading into Wednesday's All-Star Game held here at American Airlines Center.
But the 19-year-old superstar was held scoreless in the midseason classic. It was arguably the only disappointment this season for Crosby, who has the Penguins tied with the New York Rangers (23-21-4) for the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference.
Pittsburgh, which is aiming for its first playoff berth since the 2000-01, hopes to open the second half on a positive note Friday against Dallas, which is third in the Pacific Division and sixth in the Western Conference.
All-Star goaltender Marty Turco started the season with five straight wins and has a current three-game winning streak, stopping 63-of-67 shots during the streak.
