Blues hope to continue playoff push vs. Wild

ST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- Despite a loss in their last contest, the St. Louis Blues are in the midst of a remarkable turnaround.

Going 13-3-2 in their last 18 games, the Blues will try and keep their surprising run going when they take on the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday.

St. Louis has gone through a complete makeover, including a coaching change. After dropping a franchise-record 11 straight games bridging November and December, the Blues have turned it around under new coach Andy Murray, who replaced the fired Mike Kitchen on December 11.

St. Louis had its four-game winning streak snapped in its last game on Saturday - a 6-3 loss to the Nashville Predators. Lee Stempniak scored his 15th goal of the season and Curtis Sanford made 18 saves for the Blues.

St. Louis will have to continue its stellar play to catch Minnesota for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Blues are eight points behind the Wild.

Minnesota lost its last contest, 3-2, vs. the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday. Brian Rolston scored his team-leading 25th goal on the power play in the setback.

The Wild have lost three of their last five games. However, they have won five of the last six matchups with the Blues.
