Final
Islanders look to keep rolling against Canadiens
Feb 3, 2007 - 2:53 PM Ny Islanders (24-21-6) at Montreal (28-18-6) 2:00 pm ESTMONTREAL (Ticker) -- Jason Blake and Trent Hunter have been picking up the goals, and the New York Islanders have been picking up the points.
Blake and Hunter look to continue their scoring surge and the Islanders hope to extend their streak of consecutive games with at least one point when they visit the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.
New York's lone All-Star this season, Blake has scored four goals in his last five games and needs one to match his career high set last campaign. Hunter, who was a finalist for the Calder Trophy in 2004, has tallied in three of the Islanders' last four contests.
Thanks in part to the duo's recent success, New York has earned at least one point in its last five games, going 3-0-2. It posted a 5-2 victory over Atlanta on Thursday despite playing without captain Alexei Yashin, who is sidelined with a knee injury.
Montreal's Tomas Plekanec also has been on a bit of a hot streak, scoring three goals in his last five games. However, the Canadiens have struggled of late, losing five of their last eight contests, including a 5-4 shootout setback to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.
The teams are meeting for just the second time this season. On December 7, Montreal captain Saku Koivu scored a pair of power-play goals and added an assist as the Canadiens posted a 4-2 victory at New York.
