Turco can continue playing streak when Stars visit Blues

ST. LOUIS (Ticker) - After 20 consecutive appearances in goal, Marty Turco is showing no signs of wanting a day off for the Dallas Stars.

Turco is expected to be back in the lineup for the Stars, who go for their sixth victory in eight games Saturday when they meet the St. Louis Blues.

The franchise leader in victories (162), Turco has not had a night off since December 14 against the New York Rangers. He has played in 46 of a possible 52 games this season and is 26-16-2 with four shutouts.

The 31-year-old Turco is not stranger to staying busy. He played in 68 games last season and a career-best 73 in 2003-2004.

Dallas is coming off a two-game road sweep of the San Jose Sharks with Thursday's 4-2 triumph. Turco made 18 saves and Jere Lehtinen scored his 16th goal of the season for the Stars.

Playing the opener of a three-game homestand, the Blues began January with an 8-2-1 mark before dropping their last three contests, including Friday's 5-3 defeat to the Detroit Red Wings.

Lee Stempniak and Keith Tkachuk each scored their 16th goals and Ryan Johnson added a shorthanded tally for St. Louis.

The teams have not met since Dallas posted a 4-1 victory over St. Louis on November 1. Eric Lindros scored twice and Mike Modano had a goal and an assist for the Stars.
