Rangers aim to rebound after tough loss

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- The New York Rangers will try to rebound from a disheartening loss when they visit the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday.

The Rangers carried a 3-1 lead into the third period against the Detroit Red Wings on Monday but surrendered three goals in the stanza and lost, 4-3.

Brendan Shanahan, Michael Nylander and Marcel Hossa all scored for New York, which is 3-7-10 in its last 10 games. Leading scorer Jaromir Jagr was shut out against Detroit and has just seven goals in his last 28 games.

Jagr has had success against the Devils this season with two goals and three assists in five games.

New Jersey defeated Buffalo, 3-2, on Saturday for its second straight win, and climbed to within four points of the Sabres for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. New Jersey has a game in hand on Buffalo.

Jamie Langenbrunner scored for the Devils in the latest win and has goals in two straight games and five points in his last three contests.

New Jersey goaltender Martin Brodeur, who only had to make 15 saves on Saturday, is second in the league in goals-against average (2.08) and save percentage (.926). He also leads the league in wins (32) and shutouts (9).
