Islanders shoot for first home win this season vs. Flyers

UNIONDALE, New York (Ticker) -- If the New York Islanders want to make the playoffs, they have to stop losing at home to the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Islanders look to avoid a third home defeat to the league's worst club when the Atlantic Division rivals square off Wednesday.

Philadelphia recorded road wins over the Islanders on November 30 and on January 2. Mike Knuble had a goal in Philadelphia's first win and recorded a goal and an assist in the win in early January.

The Islanders had a two-game winning streak snapped in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Washington Capitals on Sunday. Mike Sillinger scored New York's goal while Rick DiPietro recorded 30 saves.

The Flyers have been playing better lately, going 2-1-3 in their last six games.

Philadelphia, which has a league-worst 33 points this season, hopes to carry momentum from Saturday's 5-2 win over the Atlanta Thrashers.

Peter Forsberg had an assist and three goals and eight assists in his last nine games.
