Elias, Devils seek fourth straight win

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- The New Jersey Devils are riding a wave of success.

The Devils hope to remain perfect on their six-game homestand when they host the New York Islanders on Thursday.

New Jersey has won three consecutive contests here and is 5-0-1 through its last six games at Continental Airlines Arena.

On Tuesday, the Devils picked up their third straight win, a 3-2 shootout triumph over the New York Rangers.

Brian Gionta scoring the decisive goal in the bonus format while All-Star goaltender Martin Brodeur made 28 saves for the Devils, who own a nine-point lead over second-place Pittsburgh in the Atlantic Division.

Brodeur can match his second-highest winning streak of the season Thursday with a win, which would be his fourth in a row. He won five in a row from December 1-9.

The Islanders are coming off Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Rick DiPietro made 27 saves to record his fifth shutout this season.

The Devils have won three of their four games with the Islanders this season, including a 2-1 overtime victory on January 13.
