Ducks begin pivotal road trip against Stars

DALLAS (Ticker) -- The Anaheim Ducks begin a four-game road trip when they visit the Dallas Stars on Saturday.

The Ducks hold a three-point lead over the San Jose Sharks in the battle for first place in the Pacific Division. Anaheim also plays division rivals Los Angeles and Phoenix on the trip along with the Colorado Avalanche

Anaheim comes off a home-and-home split with San Jose. The Ducks lost, 3-2, to the Sharks on Wednesday and are 4-5-1 in their last 10.

Teemu Selanne and Shawn Thornton scored for Anaheim while Ilya Bryzgalov made 26 saves in place of Jean-Sebastien Giguere.

Selanne has 32 goals this season and is tied for fourth in scoring with Ottawa's Dany Heatley and Tampa Bay's Martin St. Louis.

Giguere has been very solid against division opponents this season with a 9-3-1 record and a 2.41 goals-against average. He has faced Dallas three times this season and is 2-0-1 with a 1.16 goals-against average.

The Stars, 6-2-1 in their last nine contests, opened a five-game homestand with a 4-2 win over the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday.

Starting goaltender Marty Turco was pulled and replaced by Mike Smith after allowing two goals on Minnesota's first seven shots. Smith stopped all 15 shots he faced in his first appearance since a 6-5 overtime win over the Edmonton Oilers on January 4.

Turco is 1-3-0 with a 4.27 goals-against average in four starts against the Ducks this season
