Flames try to shake road woes

BUFFALO, New York (Ticker) -- The Calgary Flames try to shake their road woes when they tangle with the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday.

Calgary is 22-5-1 at home. But the road has been a different story. The Flames are just 7-13-6 away from home, and only the Florida Panthers have fewer road victories with six.

The Flames opened their three-game road trip with a 2-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday. Matthew Lombardi scored the lone Flames goal off an assist from Kristian Huselius.

Huselius has been hot lately and owns the longest points streak in the NHL this season at 14. The right wing has nine goals and 11 assists during his streak. The last time he did not get a point was in a 4-2 win over the Dallas Stars on January 4.

The Sabres opened their season-high six-game homestand with a 3-2 triumph over the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday. Thomas Vanek led Buffalo with two goals and Maxim Afinogenov also scored.

Vanek, who leads Buffalo with 28 goals, has three goals in his last two games after scoring just once in his previous seven contests.
