Thrashers continue season-high road swing against Canucks

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Ticker) -- The Atlanta Thrashers got their season-high six-game road trip off to a good start and look for their second win when they visit the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday.

The Thrashers began the trip with a 6-3 victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday. Marian Hossa and Slava Kozlov led the Thrashers with two goals and two assists. Goaltender Kari Lehtonen made a season-high 45 saves.

Hossa has 33 goals and is tied for second in NHL scoring with Washington's Alex Ovechkin. His 71 points are second in the league. The four-point night snapped a mild slump for Hossa, who had just two assists in his previous five games.

The Canucks have struggled lately, winning just three of their last eight games. Vancouver's latest defeat was a 3-0 loss at home to the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday.

Canucks netminder Roberto Luongo stopped 20 of 21 shots in absorbing the loss. Luongo went on a 10-1-0 tear which started with a 3-1 win over the Calgary Flames on December 26 and ended with a 2-1 triumph over the Ottawa Senators on January 18.

Luongo has cooled since, going 3-2-2 in his last seven starts despite allowing only 17 goals. Vancouver has not given Luongo much offensive support in those last seven games, notching just 20 goals.
