Struggling Ducks continue road trip against Avalanche
Feb 13, 2007 - 4:17 PM Anaheim (33-15-8) at Colorado (26-24-4) 9:00 pm ESTDENVER (Ticker) -- The Anaheim Ducks are watching their lead shrink in the Pacific Division.
The Ducks continue a four-game road trip on Tuesday when they face the Colorado Avalanche.
On top of the division since starting the season 12-0-4, the Ducks have just a three-point lead over second-place San Jose.
Anaheim has slumped to a 3-6-1 mark in its last 10 contests and started the road trip with a 1-0 loss at Dallas on Saturday.
Ducks goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 21 saves against the Stars. He is 3-2-0 in his last five games, having stopped 125-of-135 shots.
While the Ducks are heading to the playoffs, the Avalanche are on the verge of missing the postseason for the first time since 1994 when the franchise was known as the Quebec Nordiques.
Colorado is in 10th place in the Western Conference, 10 points behind Minnesota and Calgary for the final playoff spot.
The Avalanche have lost four of their last five games, including a 7-5 setback at Dallas on Sunday.
Milan Hejduk, Joe Sakic and Wojtek Wolski each had a goal and an assist in the loss to the Stars.
Colorado's goaltending situation could be considered unstable. Jose Theodore started against the Stars but was pulled after allowing three goals on 10 shots. Theodore has allowed 15 goals in his last three starts.
Peter Budaj replaced Theodore against Dallas and yielded four goals on 15 shots.
