Islanders face Bruins for second time in less than a week

UNIONDALE, New York (Ticker) -- The New York Islanders hope to avenge a loss from Saturday when they host the Boston Bruins on Thursday.

Defenseman Zdeno Chara scored in the ninth round of the shootout to give the Bruins a 4-3 victory over the Islanders on Saturday.

Brandon Bochenski did not score for Boston, but has three goals and two assists in four games with the Bruins since being acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks on February 3.

The Bruins, who are 4-1-0 in their last five, begin an important six-game road trip against the Islanders. New York is 2-1-2 in its last five.

Goaltender Rick DiPietro tied his season high with 39 saves in a 3-2 shootout victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday. DiPietro is 12-5-0 with a 2.25 goals-against average in 19 home starts this season. He is 4-2-1 with two ties and a 2.25 goals-against average in nine career starts against the Bruins.

Viktor Kozlov netted the decisive goal in the shootout against Toronto. He had a goal and an assist in a 5-4 win over the Bruins on January 11, and scored in Saturday's loss at Boston.

Jason Blake, who leads the Islanders with 27 goals and 48 points, has just one assist in his last six games.
