Sharks try to keep heat on first-place Anaheim

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- The San Jose Sharks have just three wins in their last eight games, but trail first-place Anaheim by only three points in the Pacific Division. The Columbus Blue Jackets have just one win in their last six games.

On Friday, the Sharks visit the Blue Jackets.

San Jose is coming off a 5-0 loss to the league-leading Nashville Predators on Wednesday. Vesa Toskala allowed two goals on five shots. Toskala is 2-2-0 in his last four starts, allowing 15 goals. But, he is 2-0-0 with just two goals allowed in a pair of starts vs. Columbus this season.

San Jose's Joe Thornton has a goal and 11 assists in his last seven games. Thornton's 59 assists are second in the NHL.

Columbus lost, 4-2, to the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday, falling to 1-3-0 on its six-game homestand.

Rick Nash, who leads the Blue Jackets with 15 goals, scored against the Blues. The left wing has just two goals in his last 17 games.

Right wing David Vyborny, who leads Columbus with 48 points, is scoreless in two games against the Sharks.
