Oilers aim for first win on important road trip

Feb 17, 2007 - 4:55 PM Edmonton (28-25-5) at Toronto (28-22-8) 7:00 pm EST

TORONTO (Ticker) -- A year after a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals, the Edmonton Oilers are on the outside looking in at a playoff berth.

The defending Western Conference champions continue a critical seven-game road trip when they visit the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.

Edmonton, 0-1-1 on the trip, has 61 points and is six points out of the last playoff spot. Scoring goals on the road has been a problem for the Oilers, whose 55 road tallies are the fewest in the league.

The Oilers got a point in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday. Shawn Horcoff scored, and has seven points in his last six games. Goaltender Dwayne Roloson made 29 saves and is 2-1-1 in his last four starts with five goals against.

The Maple Leafs are 1-1-2 in their last four after a 4-2 triumph over the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday. Captain Mats Sundin had a goal and assist, giving him 11 points in his last eight games.

Maple Leafs goaltender Andrew Raycroft made 34 saves to snap a three-game losing streak. Raycroft had surrendered 11 goals during the stretch.

Before the game, the Maple Leafs will honor the 40th anniversary the 1967 Stanley Cup championship squad, the last Toronto club to win the Cup.
