Thrashers complete losing road trip

RALEIGH, North Carolina (Ticker) -- The slumping Atlanta Thrashers complete a season-high six-game road trip when they visit the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday.

Atlanta is tied for first place with Tampa Bay in the Southeast Division, two points ahead of third-place Carolina.

Atlanta is 1-4-0 on the trip which started with a 6-3 triumph over the Colorado Avalanche on February 8. But since then the Thrashers have lost four straight and have been outscored, 17-7.

Marian Hossa, who leads the Thrashers with 71 points, has not scored in his last four games. The right wing has 33 goals, fifth-highest in the league, but has just one in four contests against Carolina.

The defending Stanley Cup champions are 3-0-1 against Atlanta this season. Carolina is coming off a 5-3 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday. Eric Staal had a goal and two assists.

Staal has two goals and nine assists in his last last seven games. The second pick in the 2003 draft has a pair of goals and five assists in four games against Atlanta.
