Lowly Blackhawks hope to end four-game skid

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Chicago Blackhawks hope some home cooking will get them out of their current slump.

The struggling Blackhawks search for their first victory in five games Thursday when they host Joe Thornton and the San Jose Sharks.

Chicago dropped its fourth straight game with Wednesday's 4-2 loss at Detroit. Goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin had 31 saves but surrendered three third-period goals.

Blackhawks left wing Rene Bourque returned after being sidelined since December 31 with cracked bones in his ankle. He has four goals this season.

On Wednesday, Jonathan Cheechoo scored the game-winning goal in San Jose's 3-2 shootout triumph at Washington.

The victory helped the Sharks snap a season-high three-game losing streak.
