Bruins continue playoff push vs. Panthers

SUNRISE, Florida (Ticker) -- The Boston Bruins are making a late push for the playoffs in the Eastern Conference.

The Bruins look to snap a four-game losing streak against the Florida Panthers when the teams meet on Saturday.

On the strength of four straight road wins and eight wins in its last 10 games, Boston is tied with the New York Rangers for 11th place in the Eastern Conference. Both teams are five points behind defending champion Carolina for the eighth and final playoff spot.

The Bruins are on their best streak since a six-game run from January 29-February 10, 2004.

However, the Bruins have struggled against the Panthers this season. Florida has outscored Boston, 17-8, in winning all three meetings this campaign. The Panthers have not lost to the Bruins since November 3, 2005.

Boston extended its winning streak to four games with a 6-2 victory over Tampa Bay on Friday. Brad Boyes recorded his first multi-goal game of the season and Brandon Bochenski added a tally and two assists.

Florida lost to Pittsburgh, 2-1, in overtime on Thursday. Ed Belfour stopped 39 shots for the Panthers, who have lost three of their last four.
