Rangers look to remain in playoff hunt

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- In the heat of a playoff race, the New York Rangers had its best player parked on the bench during a pivotal shootout loss.

After a tough loss to rival New Jersey on Thursday, the Rangers look to improve their fading playoff chances when they take on the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday.

One of the best offensive players in the NHL, Jagr possesses unmatched skill when he has the puck. However, he maintains that he does not feel comfortable in the shootout and watched as the Rangers lost to the Devils.

Henrik Lundqvist stopped 24 shots for New York, which opened a season-high six-game homestand with its third loss in four games.

The Rangers are in 11th place in the Eastern Conference, five points behind Carolina for the eighth and final playoff spot.

New York will look to take advantage of the sliding Blue Jackets, who have lost eight of their last 10 games.
