Stars seek fourth consecutive victory vs. Panthers

SUNRISE, Florida (Ticker) -- The Dallas Stars may get to unveil a new weapon to their already stingy defensive corps.

Blue-liner Mattias Norstrom is expected to make his first appearance for the Stars, who look for their fourth consecutive triumph in Thursday's encounter with the Florida Panthers.

Dallas acquired the 13-year veteran from the Los Angeles Kings prior to Tuesday's trade deadline. He will add his presence to a squad that has yielded only one goal in each of its last three contests and leads the league in fewest tallies allowed (147).

The Stars are 7-1-1 in their last nine games and trail the first-place Anaheim Ducks by five points in the Pacific Division.

After victories over the Ducks and the Vancouver Canucks, Dallas posted a 2-1 overtime triumph over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday.

Recently-acquired Ladislav Nagy netted the clinching goal in the extra session and Jere Lehtinen scored on a power play.

Florida has won three of its last five contests, including Tuesday's 6-5 victory over the Washington Capitals. It was the Panthers' first shootout triumph in eight attempts this season.
