Lightning continue road trip against Panthers

SUNRISE, Florida (Ticker) - The Tampa Bay Lightning have been good on the road lately and look to stay that way against the Florida Panthers on Saturday.

Tampa Bay improved to 10-1-1 in its last 12 road contests in a 5-4 shootout win over the Washington Capitals on Thursday.

Nick Tarnasky, who entered with three goals in 61 games, netted his first career shootout tally in the 10th round of the bonus session.

Vincent Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis each stayed hot for Tampa Bay, which holds a four-point lead over the Atlanta Thrashers in the Southeast Division.

Lecavalier, who leads the league with 42 goals, has eight tallies and nine assists in his last 10 games. St. Louis, second in the league with 39 goals, has seven goals and nine assists in his last 10 contests.

The Panthers defeated the Dallas Stars, 2-1, on Thursday for their third straight win. Olli Jokinen scored the winning goal while goaltender Ed Belfour made 33 saves for the Panthers, who are 6-1-2 in their last nine contests.

Jokinen has five goals and two assists in his last three games. The Florida captain had a hat trick in a 6-5 win over the Washington Capitals on Tuesday. He has one goal and five assists in five games against the Lightning this season.
