Bruins, Wild meet in Boston for first time in three years

BOSTON (Ticker) -- With both teams battling for playoff positioning, the Minnesota Wild and the Boston Bruins will renew acquaintances.

The Bruins look to move closer to a playoff berth Thursday when they host the Wild for the first time in three years.

Holding 12th place in the Eastern Conference, Boston has 69 points and is just four behind Toronto and Carolina for the eighth and final playoff spot.

The Bruins and Wild have not met since December 15, 2005, when the Bruins posted their first victory in six all-time meetings with the Wild. The teams have not squared off here since March 18, 2004, when the Wild posted a 2-0 triumph.

In its last contest, Boston was blanked by Colorado, 2-0, on Tuesday. Goaltender Tim Thomas made 28 saves for the Bruins, who lost for just the fifth time in their last 16 games.

Minnesota also is in a playoff race, holding down eighth place in the Western Conference - six points ahead of Colorado but just five behind fifth-place San Jose.
