Bruins hang on to slim playoff hopes vs. Flyers
Mar 10, 2007 - 2:59 PM Boston (32-30-5) at Philadelphia (18-38-11) 1:00 pm ESTPHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Despite recent woes, the Boston Bruins still hold a glimmer of hope in the playoff race.
Looking to stay afloat in the Eastern Conference, the Bruins visit the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.
Boston has scuffled in back-to-back contests, tallying just one goal in those games. In their last contest, the Bruins were defeated, 2-1, by Minnesota on Thursday. Brandon Bochenski scored Boston's lone goal late in the third period.
Adding to the Bruins' already sputtering offense, forwards Glen Murray (lower body) and P.J. Axelsson (broken wrist) both are sidelined indefinitely.
But despite its struggles, Boston is holding on to a thread of hope. The Bruins have lost five of their last seven contests and remain 12th in the Eastern Conference but are just six points behind Carolina for the eighth and final playoff spot.
Philadelphia continued its home woes on Thursday with a 2-1 loss to Florida.
Martin Biron made 35 saves in his second home start for the Flyers, who have lost five of their last six at the Wachovia Center.
