Red Wings aim to sweep Predators in home-and-home series

DETROIT (Ticker) -- The Detroit Red Wings look to sweep a home-and-home series from the Nashville Predators and take over first place in the Western Conference.

The meeting will be the third in 19 days between the Central Division rivals.

The Red Wings pulled within one point of the first-place Thrashers with a 5-2 victory at Nashville on Tuesday night. Kyle Calder had a goal and two assists while Robert Lang, Jiri Hudler and Valtteri Filppula each added a goal and assist for Detroit, which is 5-1-1 in its last seven contests.

Alexander Radulov and Martin Erat scored for Nashville, which is 6-1-2 in its last nine games.

Paul Kariya assisted on Erat's goal to extend his points streak to six games. He has three goals and five assists in that span and has six points in six contests against the Red Wings this season.

The Red Wings lead the season series, 3-2-1, and travel to Nashville again on March 29. The Predators posted a 4-3 overtime win over Detroit on February 24.
