Maple Leafs aim to keep up strong road play

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The Toronto Maple Leafs have stayed in playoff contention because of their solid play on the road. They hope to continue that on Friday against the Washington Capitals.

Toronto is just one point behind Carolina for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Maple Leafs are 7-3-1 in their last 11 road games and 4-3-2 in their last nine home contests.

Nik Antropov scored his second goal in two games while Andrew Raycroft made 19 saves in a 3-2 win over Tampa Bay on Monday. Raycroft has won four of his last five starts, including a 24-save performance in a 3-0 triumph over Washington on March 6.

The Capitals lost their ninth straight contest, 4-3, to the Boston Bruins in a shootout on Thursday. Chris Clark had the hat trick while Olaf Kolzig stopped 36-of-39 shots after missing a month with a knee injury.
