Senators aim to move in division, conference standings

OTTAWA (Ticker) -- The Ottawa Senators have a golden opportunity to gain some ground in the division and the conference against the league's worst club.

The Senators look to move up in the Northeast Division standings and hold on to fourth place in the Eastern Conference when they host the lowly Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.

The Senators have 89 points and trail Buffalo (46-19-6) by nine points in the Northeast Division.

Ottawa defeated the New York Islanders, 5-2, on Thursday for its second straight win. Ray Emery made 28 saves and Jason Spezza scored to extend his points streak to 15 games. Spezza has nine goals and 17 assists during his streak.

The Flyers defeated to Atlanta Thrashers, 3-2, on Thursday and improved to 4-3-1 in their last eight contests. Stefan Ruzicka had a goal and two assists while Martin Biron matched his season high with 37 saves.
