Panthers go for sweep of Flyers

PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- The fading playoff hopes of the Florida Panthers will likely get a boost Tuesday.

The Panthers look to stay in the playoff hunt in the Eastern Conference when they face the Philadelphia Flyers.

Florida has won all three meetings against Philadelphia this campaign and looks to sweep the season series for the first time in team history.

The Panthers enter the game tied with the Boston Bruins with 73 points. Carolina currently holds the eight spot with 80 points.

An 8-5 win over the New York Islanders on Saturday snapped a two-game losing streak for Florida. Olli Jokinen scored two third-period goals and had four assists for the Panthers, who won here 2-1, on March 8.

Owners of the fetwest points in the NHL, Philadelphia has lost three of four, including a 3-2 defeat to Ottawa on Saturday.

The Flyers will be without Simon Gagne, who has been sidelined with a left groin strain since leaving a 4-1 win over Boston on March 10. Gagne will also miss Wednesday's game against the New York Rangers.
