Maple Leafs look to stay hot against slumping Thrashers

ATLANTA (Ticker) - The Toronto Maple Leafs continue their playoff push Thursday when they visit the Atlanta Thrashers.

With six games remaining, Toronto is two points behind Tampa Bay (41-32-4) and Montreal (40-31-6) for the Eastern Conference's final playoff berth.

The Leafs enter this contest with momentum, having won their last two games against Buffalo and Carolina by a combined score of 10-2. Chad Kilger and Darcy Tucker have each tallied two goals and netminder Andrew Raycroft has stopped 45 shots.

Holding a three-point lead over Tampa Bay in the Southeast Division with five games left, Atlanta is just 0-2-1 in its last three games.

On Wednesday, the Thrashers squandered a third-period lead in a 3-2 shootout loss at Florida.

The Thrashers have managed just four goals in their last three games after averaging 3.4 goals in their previous nine contests.

Atlanta has taken two of the three meetings between the teams this season.
