Red Wings, Predators resume battle for top spot in West

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- The Detroit Red Wings and Nashville Predators are fighting for both the top spot in the Western Conference and the best record in the NHL.

The Red Wings travel to Nashville on Thursday with an opportunity to tie the Predators for first place in the Central Division.

Detroit has won the last three meetings between the rivals and owns a 5-1-1 record in the seasons series with Nashville, which has a two-point cushion in the division standings.

The Red Wings snapped a four-game losing streak with a 1-0 win over Pacific Division leader Anaheim on Monday. Pavel Datsyuk scored the lone goal and Dominik Hasek stopped 25 shots to record his seventh shutout of the season.

The Predators are coming off a home-and-home sweep of Edmonton during which they scored eight goals to push their conference-leading total to 259.
