Maple Leafs visit Rangers in critical matchup

NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Mats Sundin and the Toronto Maple Leafs are trying to get to where the New York Rangers are.

Sundin and the Maple Leafs search for their fourth win in five games Sunday when they visit to the road-weary Rangers in a crucial matchup between Eastern Conference postseason contenders.

On Saturday, defenseman Tomas Kaberle scored the game-winning goal in overtime as Toronto posted a 5-4 triumph over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

With the win, the Maple Leafs climbed within one point of the Montreal Canadiens (41-32-6) for the eighth and final playoff spot in the conference. Toronto also moved just two points behind the Rangers.

Sundin needs just one goal to tie Hall of Famer Darryl Sittler for the most in franchise history at 389.

New York has won six of its last seven games and capped its four-game road trip with Saturday's 6-4 victory over the lowly Philadelphia Flyers.

Jaromir Jagr had two goals and Henrik Lundqvist recorded 33 saves for the Rangers, who are only one point behind Tampa Bay (43-32-4) for sixth place in the conference standings.
