Stars need strong finish for home-ice advantage
Apr 5, 2007 - 3:13 PM Dallas (48-25-6) at Columbus (32-41-7) 7:00 pm EDTCOLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- The Dallas Stars are holding out hope that a strong finish will lead to home-ice advantage in the Western Conference quarterfinals.
Continuing their push toward the postseason, the Stars visit the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday.
With three games reamaining, Dallas is four points behind Nashville (49-23-8) for fourth place and home-ice advantage in the quarterfinals.
The Stars also have a slim chance to win the Pacific Division, but trail Anaheim (47-20-13) by five points.
On Monday, Dallas had a four-game winning streak stopped with a 4-2 loss at St. Louis.
Columbus is trying to avoid a last-place finish in the Central Division, and is two points ahead of Chicago (30-40-9).
The Blue Jackets have been outscored by a lopsided 15-4 during a four-game losing streak.
Columbus won the first two meetings with Dallas this season before dropping a 3-0 home decision on March 9.
