Penguins and Senators battle for home-ice advantage
Apr 5, 2007 - 3:44 PM Pittsburgh (45-24-11) at Ottawa (47-24-9) 7:30 pm EDTOTTAWA (Ticker) -- The Ottawa Senators have used a slide by the Pittsburgh Penguins to move into fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
The Senators host the Penguins in a possible preview of a quarterfinal matchup on Thursday.
After winning four straight games, the Penguins have lost their last two contests to fall out of first place in the Atlantic Division and into fifth in the conference.
Pittsburgh is two points back of Ottawa for home-ice in the quarterfinals. The Penguins are three points behind the Devils in the Atlantic with two games left, and will be eliminated from the division race if New Jersey earns a point in one of its last two games.
The surging Senators have earned a point in 14 of their last 15 games. They are coming off Tuesday's 2-1 loss in a shootout at New Jersey.
The Senators are 1-0-2 against Pittsburgh this season. Sidney Crosby, the league leader with 117 points, has a goal and two assists against Ottawa this season.
