Coyotes, Kings trying to avoid last place in Pacific

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Phoenix Coyotes are hoping to avoid last place in the Pacific Division. The Los Angeles Kings are trying to hold them off.

The Coyotes and Kings meet for the second time in three days Saturday.

Phoenix is in last place in the division, trailing Los Angeles by one point with two games left.

On Thursday, Jeremy Roenick collected a goal and an assist to lift the Coyotes to a 3-2 victory over the Kings. The win snapped a five-game losing streak.

Roenick, who is playing in his 18th season, has four points in the last three games to push his season total to 26. The veteran center is expected to retire after the season.

Playing its season finale, Los Angeles has lost six straight games.

The Coyotes hold a 4-2-1 advantage in the season series.
