Senators look to secure home-ice advantage
Apr 7, 2007 - 4:44 PM Ottawa (47-25-9) at Boston (35-40-6) 7:00 pm EDTBOSTON (Ticker) -- The Ottawa Senators know they will face the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. They would like to face them with home-ice advantage.
With starting the postseason at home on their minds, the Senators visit the Boston Bruins on Saturday.
The Senators are tied with the Penguins (46-24-11) for the fourth spot but hold the tiebreaker. Pittsburgh closes the regular season at home against the New York Rangers.
On Thursday, the Senators endured a 3-2 loss at the hands of the Penguins. Maxime Talbot scored with nine seconds left in the third to give the Penguins the victory.
Senators right winger Dany Heatley scored his 49th goal in the loss to the Penguins. He is on the cusp of becoming the first NHL player to score at least 50 goals in back-to-back seasons since Florida's Pavel Bure accomplished the feat between 1999-2000 and 2000-01.
The Bruins have lost 10 of their last 11 games.
Boston leads the series, 4-3-0.
