Canucks finish regular season against lowly Coyotes
Apr 8, 2007 - 5:25 PM Vancouver (49-25-7) at Phoenix (30-46-5) 5:00 pm EDTGLENDALE, Arizona (Ticker) -- The Vancouver Canucks are headed to the playoffs with home-ice advantage and a Northwest Division title in hand. But they have one last step to take before beginning their postseason quest.
The Canucks close out their regular season Sunday when they visit the lowly Phoenix Coyotes.
Vancouver is one victory shy of the first 50-win season in franchise history and already has set a club record with 105 points.
The Canucks are flying high after Saturday's 4-3 overtime victory against San Jose.
Defenseman Mattias Ohlund netted the game-winning goal while Roberto Luongo made 27 saves for Vancouver, which has clinched the third seed in the Western Conference and will take on No. 6 Dallas in the conference quarterfinals.
The Canucks have won all three meetings with the Coyotes this season, including a 4-2 triumph here on March 8.
Phoenix dropped a 3-2 decision to Los Angeles on Saturday to assure itself of the worst record in the Western Conference.
