Penguins look to bounce back at home against Senators

Apr 17, 2007 - 2:45 PM Ottawa at Pittsburgh 7:00 pm EDT Eastern Conference quarterfinals Ottawa leads series, 2-1

PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- The Pittsburgh Penguins will find themselves in a difficult spot if they're unable to beat the Ottawa Senators in Game Four of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series on Tuesday.

The Senators took a two-games-to-one lead in the series with a 4-2 win here on Sunday.

Superstar center Sidney Crosby has three goals and two assists in the series for the Penguins.

However, the Senators have outshot the Penguins, 99-66 in the first three games.

"I don't know if there is any explanation but obviously we need to find one fast," Crosby said. "We just had some times where, mentally, we made some mistakes and we paid for them. We just can't make the mistakes we've been making."

After Gary Roberts gave the Penguins a 1-0 lead just 52 seconds into Game Three, the Senators took control.

Dean McAmmond tied the game late in the first period and the Senators scored three times in the second session on a tally from Mike Comrie and two goals by Daniel Alfredsson. The Ottawa captain, who has played in all 82 Senators' playoff games in the modern era, has three goals and two assists in the series.

After allowing the early goal in Game Three, Ray Emery kept the Penguins off the board until Crosby scored late in the third period. The Ottawa netminder had to make only 17 saves in the win.

Pittsburgh's Marc-Andre Fleury made 21 saves in Game Three.

The status of Ottawa's Patrick Eaves remains uncertain. The right wing was taken off the ice on a stretcher after a hard hit from Colby Armstrong in the second period of Game Two. Eaves suffered a concussion on the bone-jarring hit, which both teams agreed was not malicious.
