Islanders look to pull even with Sabres in East quarterfinals

UNIONDALE, New York (Ticker) -- The New York Islanders seek to get even when they host the top-seeded Buffalo Sabres in Game Four of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series.

The Sabres scored three goals in just under eight minutes in the second period of Monday's 3-2 win to reclaim the home-ice advantage in the series.

New York goaltender Rick DiPietro provided an emotional lift in Game Two when he returned after three weeks of being sidelined with concussion symptoms and stopped 32 shots in a 3-2 victory at Buffalo.

Ryan Miller stopped 20 of 22 shots for Buffalo in Monday's win.

Ryan Smyth, who was acquired by the Islanders from Edmonton at the trade deadline, tallied his first goal of the series with eight seconds remaining in the second period.

The Islanders have allowed 104 shots in the first three games of the series.
