Senators look to regain series edge at home
Apr 30, 2007 - 3:22 PM New Jersey at Ottawa 7:00 pm EDT Eastern Conference semifinal Series tied, 1-1OTTAWA (Ticker) - The Ottawa Senators return home to face the New Jersey Devils in Game Three of their Eastern Conference semifinal series Monday.
Ottawa does return home with some momentum after gaining a split of the first two games of the series on the road.
After scoring five goals against veteran netminder Martin Brodeur in the series opener, the Senators managed just two tallies in a 3-2 setback in double-overtime Saturday.
The Senators scored four times goals during in the first 16:39 of Game One, but have netted just three tallies during the last 125 minutes and 16 seconds of the series.
Brodeur made 43 saves in Game Two after uncharacteristically allowing five goals on 26 shots in the opener. Jamie Langenbrunner scored the the game-winner at 1:55 of the second overtime.
The overtime win against Ottawa was a welcomed change for the Devils, who had failed to beat the Senators in four previous overtime playoff games.
The victory ensured Saturday's game would not be the Devils' last at Continental Airlines Arena, which was sold out for the first time this season. The team will begin the 2007-08 campaign at the new Prudential Center in Newark.
