Selanne, Ducks head to Nashville
Oct 29, 2011 - 2:15 PM (Sports Network) - At 41 years of age, Ducks winger Teemu Selanne shows no signs of slowing down. The Finnish Flash will try to build off an excellent offensive performance when Anaheim visits the Nashville Predators tonight at Bridgestone Arena.Selanne burst onto the NHL scene with 76 goals as a rookie for the original Winnipeg Jets back in 1992-93 and he still knows how to fill up a scoresheet. He posted three assists for the Ducks on Thursday to help Anaheim edge Minnesota and end a three-game skid.
Selanne now has nine points (3 goals, 6 assists) in nine games this season and with 640 goals and 709 assists as an NHLer, he is one point shy of 1,350 for his stellar career.
Corey Perry, Bobby Ryan and Ryan Getzlaf each tallied a goal for the Ducks in their 3-2 victory in St. Paul. Getzlaf, who also had an assist in the win over the Wild, has four goals and five points over his last three games.
"We just executed right to the finish," Getzlaf said after Thursday's win. "We've been working pretty hard to get pucks to the net and do all the little things and tonight we got rewarded for it."
Ducks goaltender Jonas Hiller made 23 saves in the victory to improve his record to 4-3-1 on the season.
Anaheim is 2-1-1 as the visiting team this season and is playing the third test of a seven-game road trip tonight.
The Predators, meanwhile, are closing a three-game homestand this evening after splitting the first two tilts at Bridgestone Arena. Nashville is just 1-2-1 in the Music City this season.
Nashville dropped a 3-1 decision to open the residency against San Jose on Tuesday, but rebounded with Thursday's 5-3 victory over Tampa Bay. Mike Fisher registered two goals and set up another to help the Predators down the Lightning.
Fisher missed Nashville's first seven games of the year while recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, but he already has compiled two goals and two assists in two games.
Sergei Kostitsyn and Nick Spaling also had a goal and an assist on Thursday, and Pekka Rinne made 29 saves for the Predators.
"Huge two points. It was kind of a up-and-down game, both teams had some momentum," Rinne said.
Kostitsyn (leg) is questionable for tonight's contest after getting hit into the boards in the second period on Thursday.
Nashville has taken four out of five from the Ducks overall and Anaheim has lost three of its last four tilts in Music City.
