Wild shut out Red Wings

Oct 30, 2011 - 3:22 AM St. Paul, MN (Sports Network) - Josh Harding turned aside 36 shots, including 16 during the second period, and the Minnesota Wild blanked the Detroit Red Wings, 1-0, in the front end of a home-and-home set at Xcel Energy Center.

Harding started for only the second time this season. His other appearance came in the previous meeting with Detroit, a 3-2 overtime loss on October 15.

Dany Heatley scored the game's only goal in the first period for Minnesota, which avoided a fifth loss in six outings.

Heatley kept the puck on an odd-man rush and snapped a shot by Jimmy Howard 10:51 into the contest. The Wild had a goal waved off earlier because of a kicking motion.

Howard made 19 saves for the Red Wings, who have lost four in a row after winning their first five games of the season.

"We've got to keep going and stay positive," said Detroit forward Henrik Zetterberg.
