Columbus takes down Anaheim
Oct 31, 2011 - 4:01 AM Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Steve Mason made 19 saves to backstop the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 3-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks at Nationwide Arena.Rick Nash, Ryan Johansen and Fedor Tyutin each had a goal for the Blue Jackets, who picked up only their second win of the season (2-9-1).
"Tonight we got the job done, but it's one game," Nash said. "We've still only won two games this year. We're still not even anywhere close to satisfied."
Dan Ellis stopped 18-of-21 shots for Anaheim, which fell to 1-2-1 on its seven-game road trip. The Ducks have lost five of six overall.
Anaheim forwards Teemu Selanne and Saku Koivu were called for concurrent penalties, giving Columbus an early two-man advantage. Nash then put the Blue Jackets on the board by ripping a wrist shot from the right circle through traffic 2:23 into the contest.
The Ducks tied the game six minutes later when Bobby Ryan fired a backhand feed from Selanne on an odd-man rush past Mason.
