Predators' Legwand nets OT winner vs. Sharks

Nov 6, 2011 - 7:55 AM San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - David Legwand scored twice and tipped in the winning goal 2:53 into overtime, as Nashville rallied for a 4-3 triumph over the San Jose Sharks.

Patric Hornqvist and Ryan Suter netted third-period goals for the Predators, who won for the fourth time in five games. Pekka Rinne made 35 stops, including a crucial one on Joe Pavelski in the final minute of regulation.

"It was a big two points for us," Rinne said.

Logan Couture had a goal and two assists for the Sharks, while Pavelski had a goal and a helper. Martin Havlat also lit the lamp, while Antti Niemi made 31 stops in defeat, San Jose's second in three tries after a five-game winning streak.

Francis Bouillon delivered a backhand pass from the right circle in front to Legwand, who redirected the disc into the net for his fifth goal of the year.

The Sharks nearly went ahead with 28.4 seconds left, but Rinne made a spectacular save on Joe Pavelski, who was unable to lift the pick into the open part of the net.

"It was open and I couldn't get it up at the time," Pavelski said. "It's tough. I had enough on it to get it there, but he got over there and made a good save."

Before that, Couture's goal 52 seconds into the third boosted the Sharks to a 3-1 lead, but Hornqvist's tally off a rebound made it a one-goal margin at the 2:57 mark.

Suter's power play marker at 5:58 tied the game on a shot from the slot.

Legwand scored 62 seconds into the second period and Pavelski's wrister tied the score at the 4:40 mark. Havlat then netted a power play goal at 9:50 by cleaning up the loose puck in front.
