Clemmensen, Florida dump Stars

Nov 16, 2011 - 6:15 AM Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Scott Clemmensen stopped all 25 shots he faced and six different players tallied as Florida dispatched Dallas, 6-0, at American Airlines Center.

Stephen Weiss and Kris Versteeg posted a goal and two assists each for the Panthers, winners in three of their last four.

Dmitry Kulikov, Tomas Fleischmann, Jason Garrison and Evgenii Dadonov also lit the lamp as Florida held Dallas scoreless on the road for the first time in franchise history.

"We caught a team coming off the road, and I think that is a legitimate thing," Panthers head coach Kevin Dineen said. "When teams come off the road, there's something about it that makes it hard to come out. I think we smelled some opportunity."

Kari Lehtonen was left in for all six goals on 30 shots for the Stars, who suffered their worst defeat of the season in their third consecutive loss.

Florida posted all the offense it needed in a span of 1:24 late in the first period, as Kulikov one-timed a Tomas Kopecky pass from the slot at 16:44 and Garrison ripped a shot past Lehtonen at 18:08.

Fleischmann made it 3-0 at 15:22 of the second, as he stickhandled around Stars defenseman Stephane Robidas on the left wing and scored high to the glove side.

Weiss added another score with eight seconds remaining for a four-goal cushion.

Versteeg finished off a 2-on-1 break with a wrister from the left wing at the midway point of the third.

Dadonov capped the rout at 13:19 when he was credited with a score that resulted in a Marco Sturm pass being redirected into the net off his own skate.

Clemmensen needed to make just four saves in the first period and six in the second, but came up with 15 in the final 20 minutes.

"I think the honeymoon's over," Stars head coach Glen Gulutzan said. "You start off 11-3, and teams are prepared to play you. They watch you probably a little closer, and Florida did a really good job of pre-scouting us."
