Red Wings try to regain series advantage against Ducks

DETROIT (Ticker) - The Detroit Red Wings look to take the series lead in the Western Conference final for the third time when they host the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday.

The Red Wings won the best-of-seven series opener here and, after dropping Game Two, regained the upperhand with a Game Three win in Anaheim. The Ducks won Game Four, 5-3, on Thursday to send the series back to Detroit knotted at two games apiece.

Detroit has had success against the Ducks at Joe Louis Arena, where it owns a 5-3 postseason record against Anaheim. Furthermore, the Ducks have only won two regular-season games in Detroit since joining the NHL in 1993-94.

A positive for Anaheim is the return of defenseman Chris Pronger, who was suspended for Game Four by the NHL for delivering a blow to the head of Detroit's Tomas Holmstrom in Game Three.

The former Norris Trophy winner and finalist this year leads the Ducks in scoring in the playoffs with 12 points.

Another plus for Anaheim is the fact that they were able to rebound from a lackluster Game Three performance in which they were soundly beaten 5-0.

Ryan Getzlaf snapped a 3-3 tie 5:24 into the third period and Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 36 saves in the Ducks' Game Four victory. Teemu Selanne had a goal and two assists and defenseman Francois Beauchemin set up a pair of tallies for Anaheim.

Detroit's Daniel Cleary had two goals and an assist Thursday for his second consecutive multi-point performance. He has two tallies and four assists in the series and has a career-high 11 points this postseason.

The Red Wings outshot the Ducks 39-23 in Game Four after being outshot 94-74 over the first three games of the series.
