Bruins have quick turnaround against Jets

Nov 26, 2011 - 3:44 PM (Sports Network) - Despite a valiant effort, the Bruins had their 10-game winning streak stopped on Friday. A meeting with the streaking Jets could result in their first losing streak in a month.

Boston gets a quick turnaround as it hosts Winnipeg this evening at TD Garden.

Looking to win 11 in a row for the first time since 1971, the Bruins battled with the Red Wings past regulation before dropping a 3-2 shootout decision. It was their first loss since Oct. 29, the final contest of a three-game losing streak that dropped Boston to 3-7 on the season.

Daniel Paille scored on Friday and Patrice Bergeron netted a game-tying goal with 12:08 left in the third for the Bruins. Tuukka Rask made 29 saves through overtime, but was beaten twice in the shootout.

Boston's new goal is to prevent yesterday's loss from snowballing and head coach Claude Julien doesn't think the end of the streak will impact his team.

"I don't think it's the end of the world that it ended tonight," Julien said. "There's nothing wrong with the game we played tonight."

Boston has won 12 of its last 14 games against the Winnipeg franchise and has won eight in a row at home in this series. The Jets haven't won in Boston since a victory as the Atlanta Thrashers on March 31, 2007.

Winnipeg, though, brings a five-game point streak into this meeting, a solid run that follows a 5-9-3 start to the season. After having a three-game win streak end with an overtime defeat in Washington on Wednesday, the Jets came through with a 3-1 triumph in Carolina last night.

Andrew Ladd scored the eventual game-winning goal in the second period -- the 100th tally of his career -- and Chris Mason made 20 saves in his first appearance since Oct. 27 because of a groin injury. Mason also had an assist, while Evander Kane and Bryan Little scored goals.

"I thought we were good," Jets head coach Claude Noel said. "The lines got unbalanced after a little while because of the score, but for the most part I thought we had some good effort and the guys played hard."

Zach Bogosian had two assists for Winnipeg, which finishes off a three-game road trip after earning its first victory as the guest since Nov. 3, snapping a five-game slide.
