Wilson lifts Predators past Flames

Dec 14, 2011 - 5:15 AM Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Colin Wilson broke a tie with a power-play goal early in the third period as the Nashville Predators held on to beat the Calgary Flames, 2-1, at Bridgestone Arena.

Pekka Rinne made 35 saves for the Predators.

"They played a strong game but I thought we had one of the better games of the season," said Rinne.

Nashville has won three games in row and registered its first home win over the Flames since January 15, 2008, snapping a six-game skid.

Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 43 shots for Calgary, which was aiming to extend its winning streak to four games.

The Predators pulled ahead 2-1 while Flames forward Brendan Morrison served an interference penalty. Kiprusoff made a left pad save on Craig Smith's bid from the right circle, but Wilson crashed the net and buried the rebound at the 3:31 mark.

Calgary recorded 13 shots over the final 20 minutes.

Matt Halischuk backhanded a shot behind Kiprusoff at 11:43 mark of the first period. Curtis Glencross provided the equalizer for Calgary 6:12 into the middle frame.

"Obviously the first period killed us," said Glencross. "We weren't ready to play."

The Predators improved to 11-1-2 this season when holding their opponent to two goals or less...Calgary began a four-game road trip.
