Canucks blank Wild

Jan 5, 2012 - 7:20 AM Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Roberto Luongo turned aside 28 shots for his second shutout of the season as the Vancouver Canucks took a 3-0 win over the Minnesota Wild.

Alexandre Burrows, Daniel Sedin and Manny Malhotra all scored for the Canucks, who snapped a two-game slide.

"We just want to keep winning games," Luongo said. "Obviously it's still early in the season, we've got a lot of hockey left to be played, but we just want to keep improving every day and winning games and accumulating points and obviously try to get home ice advantage for the playoffs."

Josh Harding was handed the hard-luck loss as he gave up two goals on 34 shots for the Wild, who have dropped two straight and 10 of 11.

The Canucks took a 1-0 lead just 6:42 into the game when Henrik Sedin sent a pass from the outside left circle back to the point where his brother one- timed it home with traffic in front.

Halfway through the first, Vancouver made it a 2-0 contest as Henrik Sedin took the puck in down the right wing, passed it over to the left wing with Daniel sending it to the front for a slam by Burrows.

Luongo made 11 stops in the first and 10 in the second to keep Minnesota off the board.

He then stopped seven shots in the third, helping the team kill two Minnesota power plays and Malhotra scored with Harding pulled in the final minute to cap the scoring.

"No satisfaction here," Harding said. "We've got to win."

Game Notes

It was the 57th shutout of Luongo's career...Minnesota plays in Calgary on Saturday...Vancouver hits the road for the next four games starting in Boston on Saturday...Vancouver has won six of seven over Minnesota, including three of four this season.
