Ducks down Canucks

Jan 16, 2012 - 6:12 AM Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Jason Blake had two goals and an assist, Jonas Hiller made 21 saves and the Anaheim Ducks took a 4-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday.

Nick Bonino and Bobby Ryan also lit the lamp for the Ducks, who improved to 5-0-1 over their last six games.

"If we play like we did tonight, we should be okay," said Blake. "It was a great team win. Now we just have to keep it going."

Cody Hodgson and Mason Raymond scored for Vancouver, while Roberto Luongo stopped 30-of-34 shots as the Canucks had their two-game win streak snapped.

Anaheim struck first at the 6:48 mark of the opening period when it took Bonino two whacks at a rebound to get the puck past Luongo.

But Vancouver knotted the game at one with 9:08 to play in the first while on the power play with Hodgson's wrister from the left circle that snuck under the crossbar.

The Ducks, though, struck twice in the second period to take control of the game.

Ryan made it 2-1 with a one-timer from the right circle that ripped into the net just 2:21 into the frame, and Blake sent Anaheim into the third period with a two-goal lead when he raced down the left side of the ice off a turnover and wristed the disc into the top-right corner of the net from the left circle.

Blake then recorded his second goal with 7:20 left in regulation with a redirection of a Luca Sbisa pass through the legs of Luongo on the man advantage.

Raymond's wraparound goal at the 17:04 mark of the third period finalized the scoring.

"It didn't seem like we had a lot of jump or energy tonight," Canucks head coach Alain Vigneault said. "Our execution -- because of that lack of energy -- wasn't very good."

Game Notes

Anaheim improved to 8-9-3 since head coach Bruce Boudreau took over in late November...Both teams went 1-for-3 on the power play.
